                                                                                Some Favorites

1) Animal Kingdom Lodge Animal Kingdom Lodge is a luxury resort with WDW's largest pool;  kiddie pool; Fitness Center; fine dining; attractive rooms, all with balconies.
Walt Disney World Resorts: Animal Kingdom Lodge A Favorite Disney World resort: this luxury property has astonishing architecture inside and out. Take an educational tour of the African style and artifacts; best of all, watch giraffes and zebras from your balcony. Make sure your balcony looks out on the savannas:  30 acres of land where 100 animals roam. Also, visit the Arusha Rock viewing area, where signs -- and often a human guide-- help you identify animals and birds. At dusk, head to the Sunset Viewing room and balcony where you can ask a wildlife guide about the animals.

2) Port Orleans -Riverside
Disney World Resorts: Riverside
One of the moderate-priced Walt Disney World resorts, Riverside was formerly called Dixie Landing. The theme is down-south: you can stay in Magnolia Bend (in the style of plantation houses) or Alligator Bayou. The main swimming pool has the Ol' Man Island play area.

Riverside- Port Orleans is an attractive resort, with Mississippi river theming in two large sections: Magnolia Bend area has antebellum-style architecture along the Sassagoula River; "Alligator Bayou" has rustic lodges. The central area, with restaurant, food court, etc., has a riverside dock theme.

Riverside Port Orleans has many fun features for families (see below), and guests can also sample the themed pool with waterslides at the neighboring Riverside- French Quarter resort.

Also fun -- and convenient -- at Riverside Port Orleans: a little boat runs continuously along the river, to ferry guests to Downtown Disney and back.

What's fun about Port Orleans- Riverside, for families?

Be sure to allow a whole day on your vacation, just to have fun at the resort.

Activities include renting bikes, surrey-bikes, or kayaks. The themed pool in the Ol' Man Island area has a small waterslide, very popular with younger kids. Nearby is a rustic-themed play area.

3)  Caribbean Beach
Walt Disney World Resorts: Caribbean BeachAlso in the moderate-priced range, Caribbean Beach has attractive units, a white-sand beach with hammocks beside a  lake, and a fun swimming pool with a castle theme.

Caribbean Beach is a fun place to stay, with cute castle-themed pool that's popular day and night. The food fair is conveniently close the pool; pool has a small waterslide. Caribbean Beach has an actual (artificial) beach, with hammocks, and boat rentals. Kids can explore Parrot Caye Island, with kiddie playground.

4) All-Star Sports
Walt Disney World Resort: All-Star SportsAll four of the value-priced All-Star properties are excellent value-for-money. They're colorful, cheerful,  fun, and priced under $100; rooms sleep four; and you can enjoy all the benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World resort.

   Review and Pictures

5) Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground
Disney World Resort: Fort WildernessHere's a great way to economize, have outdoors fun, and enjoy all the perks of staying at WDW (such as Disney bus transport, and Early Park Openings.)  Fort Wilderness has a swimming pool,  rustic restaurants, Hoop-de-Doo Revue, petting farm, evening campfires and movies, and boat transport to Magic Kingdom.
   Review and Pictures

6) Grand Floridian
Disney World Resort- Grand FloridianA great Victorian Style beach resort, this flagship property at WDW has 40 acres, beach and marinas, monorail and boat shuttle access to Magic Kingdom, deluxe rooms, character dining, Afternoon Tea and a Tea Party for kids, and many other kids' activities.

Advantages of the Grand Floridian location: guests can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks on-site, even without a room with a MK view; try the beach or dock. Also, every evening, guests can view the Electrical Water Pageant on Seven Seas Lagoon.

This room can comfortably sleep four. Dormer rooms have sloped ceilings, sleep 4, and have private balconies; Standard rooms sleep 5 people and have balconies but not private ones.
